Supported label guide

Which label fits your shipment?

Start with the physical shipping situation. The free generator currently supports two clear uses and keeps later or customer-specific requirements separate.

Standard transport identification

Track one pallet, carton, or parcel

Give one physical shipping unit a unique SSCC while keeping its contents in an ASN, WMS, spreadsheet, or another business record.

Use this label when

  • You need to identify and route one logistic unit.
  • The contents are already recorded somewhere else.
  • A customer-specific routing guide does not require another barcode.

Choose another solution when

  • The label must encode a GTIN, item count, lot, or date.
  • The receiving customer provides a mandatory label specification.

One-product pallet or shipping unit

Ship multiple identical cases or items

Describe a logistic unit whose contained trade items all use the same GTIN, with the count referring to that exact GTIN.

Use this label when

  • Every contained case, carton, pack, or item has the same GTIN.
  • You know the number of trade items identified by that GTIN.
  • Optional lot or date traceability applies to the identical contents.

Choose another solution when

  • The complete case or pallet is itself the orderable trade item using AI (01).
  • The logistic unit contains different products or different GTINs.

Download and print your label

Both supported label types are available as PDF and ZPL. Downloads keep the saved label's layout, information, and SSCC, so downloading another format does not create a new SSCC.

PDF for viewing and printing

A PDF downloads automatically when you generate and save a label. You can download it again from Saved labels. Print at 100% scale on matching label stock to preserve barcode dimensions.

ZPL for compatible thermal printers

  1. Generate and save your label, or use an existing record in Saved labels.
  2. Set ZPL printer resolution to match your printer: 203, 300, or 600 dpi. Check your printer settings if you are unsure.
  3. Click Download ZPL, then send the downloaded .zpl file using your printer software.

Use media and a printer wide enough for the selected layout. A 6 × 8 label requires a six-inch print width. The two-copy layout places both copies on one 4 × 6 sheet.

Requirements outside the free generator

These situations need different GS1 rules, business data, or a customer routing guide. They remain visible so the current generator does not accept an ambiguous shipment.

Ship a case or pallet sold as one item

Planned

This is different from a pallet containing many cases. The complete shipping unit is itself the trade item.

Ship variable-weight or perishable goods

Planned

Capture the product, actual measure, lot, and applicable dates using rules defined for the specific trade-item scenario.

Ship a pallet containing different products

Planned

Identify the physical unit with an SSCC and communicate its different contents through an ASN, WMS, or another shipment record.

Follow a retailer or customer routing guide

Tailored solution

Build against the customer’s current routing guide, required shipment fields, printer workflow, and electronic data exchange.

Need a customer-specific label or workflow?

A tailored implementation can cover routing-guide fields, other sizes or print formats, printer delivery, shipment data, user roles, and integrations.
